Vivian Godfrey was the 6th and 8th Grand Master.

 

When Thomas Maughan dies on May 1st, 1976, Vivian Godfrey becomes the 6th Grand Master and the first female Grand Master.

(Her husband Leon Barcynski becomes Prior of the Order.)

She will remain Grand Master for 11 years. Vivian was a very talented artist and was one of the founding members of the "Order of Bards, Ovates & Druids" in the 1960s. She then emigrated to the USA with her partner Leon Barcynski (writing as Osborne Phillips). On their return to Britain in 1989 she was invited to succeed John Michell as Presider of the "Order of Bards, Ovates & Druids" to which she had belonged thirty or so years previously. She presides over this Order until her death in 1997.
