Philanthropy
Why Philanthropy?
Whether a Masonic organization is esoteric or not, philanthropy should be one of its noble goals. A Freemason must maintain in his life high moral standards and practice philanthropy.
Historically, one of the main purposes of Freemasonry became philanthropy and social assistance. The Lodges were helping their members in case of sickness or unemployment. In case of death, they were helping widows to pay for the funerals and other things needed for their orphans. At a time were social security didn’t exist, it should be a relief for the initiate to know the possible support coming from his brothers.
Today a Masonic organization must continue to value Human rights while helping the members in need and support important causes.
